With everything else going on in my life right now, I really thought I'd hit rock bottom emotionally and just couldn't take anymore stress or anxiety. At least, I definitely don't need anything more to worry about. I'm moving away and I'm torn about how to tell the man I love (but am currently not with); I'm actually sad about selling my furniture(!); and my emotions may as well just be pulled into physical form so that any dog that walks by can take a poo on them.

Well, apparently God doesn't think this to be enough. I need more trials, I need more pain, I need to be farther down in life to somehow appreciate whatever good is to come. OR SOME OPTIMISTIC MUMBO-JUMBO REASON.

My mom was rear-ended today. She was in a car accident. The speed limit was 35mph, and she was stopped in a line of cars at a light. There was an accident up ahead - someone T-boned another person in the intersection. Whoever was behind my mom must not have been paying attention, because they slammed right the hell into her. This person hit her so hard that all of her rear windows shattered on impact. Keep in mind, it's not like she's driving a small car that is low to the ground, where all of the windows are right in height-range of being hit. No, she drives a small SUV. So all of the back windows shattered, and she slammed forward into the person in front of her... then actually bounced OFF AND BACK INTO THE DUMB WOMAN BEHIND HER!!!

I'm so mad. I want to just raise my arms, shake my fists, and scream at the sky.

I absolutely hate it when restaurants will not split bills. Absolutely hate it. I was once a server/waitress, whatever you want to call it, and I understand the slight stress it causes for splitting bills.

However, when people go to a restaurant and it's a big group of people, they're almost always going to pay in different ways. It's expected. It causes a lot of problems when they won't split the fucking bills because someone is always left high and dry with a larger bill than they should have, and the tip is normally smaller than it should have been.

If everyone got their own separate bills, everyone would see their own charges and be responsible for it. There'd be no covering an extra five or ten dollars for the actual bill that someone was short on and then left early for, and there'd be no one left in the end trying to cover everything missing - including the tip.

I don't agree with automatic gratuity either, but fine, whatever, charge the automatic percentage on to everyone's SEPARATE bills. This way, they'd get the appropriate amount for each bill from each party, and everyone is held responsible.

If I had a choice, I would never eat at restaurants that don't split bills for people. It's absolute bullshit.

  New Favorite Cookies
  1 cup butter, softened
• 1 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3 cups quick-cooking oats
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 1 cup butterscotch chips

DIRECTIONS

Please note: Original recipe said only 12 minutes, and it also depends on the size of the cookie you make. I made large mounds of dough, and needed the additional 2-3 minutes to get the lightly golden browned edges that I prefer on my cookies. If your cookies are taking a little bit longer to not be overly mushy in the middle, PLEASE DO NOT RAISE THE TEMPERATURE. Understand that raising the temperature alters how the cookie bakes, and the cookie will SPREAD OUT and become flat and unattractive. I believe the actual reason is that the butter MELTS too quickly, and practically kills the cookie :-(

..the way men people seem to think that shouting from their couch somehow effects the game..
..how Sundays pretty much mean that the TV is glued to a game station, and the two above things continue to happen the entire day..

Yeah. That I don't like, that I can't stand.

Thankfully, the boyfriend is going to go play football with some of his buddies ACROSS TOWN (about 1.5 hours away, depending on traffic - thank you, Phoenix), and that means I can draw, clean, watch the Food Network, listen to music, or do anything I want - without the noise from football killing my head.

Joy. Rapture.

Apparently for working on MLK day, January 21, I will get paid for my full 7 hour day...

..and then since it's a holiday and I'm not taking it off, I will get paid an additional time and a half on top of the normal 7.

Basically.... double time, and a half.

What won't you miss about 2007?

• I definitely won't miss living in Phoenix. It's insanely hot here during the summer, it's huge and spread out, and in traffic it can take 2 or more hours just to get across town. ACROSS A SINGLE CITY! That's ridiculous!
• I won't miss my job. I work in a cubicle and I answer calls all day long for investors and financial advisers. It's a ridiculously stressful job; people call in and yell at you for absolutely not reason. Also, even if the caller is completely satisfied with your service - beyond satisfied and jokes around with you on the phone - you can still "fail" your calls because they grade on EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL.
• I won't miss the traffic. People here can't drive. Apparently, merging on to the freeway doesn't just involve the people GETTING ON THE FREEWAY, it involves everyone else driving and following speeding laws. Even people in the fast lane or the carpool lane must slow down because, Oh God!, there are cars getting on the freeway once every mile. ...Absolutely ridiculous.
• I won't miss the lack of family owned and operated businesses. Sure, there are some here and there, but they're so damn hard to find and when you do, it's sometimes not even worth it. Everything else is a chain restaurant.
• I won't miss... being overweight, moody, and unhappy.
• I won't miss being in debt and never having enough to make a difference on payments.
  

Hopefully the new year brings a solution to all of these problems. The problems that revolve around Phoenix are being solved here pretty soon - last minute decision to move back to my hometown and in with my parents. This will also help with the debt problem, since the whole reason behind it is to not have rent and all of those other bills that come with renting a place... all of that money can just be thrown at the debt.

I have hopes for 2008.
